Moister and Your Cellphone

By Jim Corkern

No, all those individuals you might see walking down the street, cruising in their cars, or shopping for groceries slowly pushing their buggies are not murmuring to themselves. They are likely on their cell phone. It seems anywhere you may be, people are either using their cell phone headset or holding a cell phone in their hand. The senior individuals appear to love the technology and fun of cell phones just like the younger people.

The more modern cell phone combinations have become a huge part of our daily routine. They have photo options in them, address book, internet connections for emails, and text messaging and double as an ipod. Those who are addicted cell phone carriers can be nearly devastated if their cell phone has no reception, gets stolen or destroyed. It could appear ridiculous to many, but if you are someone who is really dependent on your cell phone, these difficulties are not a funny position to be in.

A water accident is one of the worst nightmares for cell phone owners. Most of the time the cell phones guarantee will not include water damage. This is bad enough, but the real result is losing all the important files that could be stored in them. It is so discouraging to have to get a new phone, paid for out of your own pocket, and then go through the time consuming process of redoing all the information it had.

Quite a few of those water saturated phones get put in the garbage because owners can believe since it was wet that it is most likely destroyed and impossible to fix. Now if it was wet by coke or some other sticky mess, it could be ruined. If it was simply water, there may be hope. Occasionally, if you just do not mess with it and give it a little time to dry out entirely they will work fine.

If this will not get the phone to work, it can still have a chance to be restored. There are repair services available now that could fix your water logged phones and in many situations might return your information also. This could cost you a certain amount of money to have done, but depending on the price of a combination phone that can do a variety of things, the restoration amount might still be more cost efficient than replacing the phone. So if your cell phone undergoes an unexpected dunking, just try to be smart and see if it restores itself. When it has dried out and still will not work send it to a cell phone paramedic for CPR, cell phone resuscitation.

A Quick Guide To Free Cell Phone Promotions

By Craig Thornburrow

Any person who has looked for a new cell phone service has seen that many of these service providers offer free cell phone promotional give away items. This is, of course, a great way of pulling in new customers who may have not sided with the specific cell phone service if given the choice between competing cell phone services.

Regardless of what a company is selling or offering, providing something for free will surely attract attention and draw in potential customers. Granted, some people will be a bit leery about a free promotional gift and this is understandable.

Of course, there will always be concerns among people that the cell phone will be a sub par item. This is a valid concern and anyone who has such a concern should be commended for thinking outside the box and realizing that just because something is free does not necessarily mean that the item is truly worth anything.

However, if one is dealing with a reliable cell phone service or distributor, then such worries should not be much of a concern. Sure, a little concern is understandable, but the reality is that these companies have far more to lose by offering a cheap phone for free that will not actually work as opposed to offering an expensive phone that will be incredibly reliable.

First, of the company offers a free phone that turns out to be unreliable, it will probably kill any future business that the person who was burned by a free phone that ended up malfunctioning or breaking within a ridiculously short period of time. When the company provides a free phone as a promotional item, they are attempting to reel in a potential lifetime customer in a manner no different from the way cereal companies offer toys at the bottom of the box.

If the company ends up hurting their image by providing a poor quality free give away item, then the company is shooting itself in the foot and defeating the purpose of providing the free item. So, the free phone will more than likely be quality items that the consumer can rely on.

So, it is definitely worth it to give a company that is providing a free cell phone promotion a try. When the opportunity to save money or make money is presented, it should never be ignored. When people shop around for cellular phone service, they usually look for a company that offers competitive rates on minutes and service location.

It should be simply academic that people will also opt to select the services that will provide free gifts as well and a free cell phone is certainly a free gift that would be appreciated.

Golf Cart Batteries: Is Yours A Ticking Time Bomb?

By Christine Harrell

There’s been a lot of media coverage about the Sony laptop battery and its associated potential fire hazard. Like a lot of media publicity, there is more hype than threat and the probability that your Sony laptop battery will burst into flames isn’t next to nil, but there is a chance that this could happen to your golf cart battery.

The danger with golf cart batteries is that many require that distilled water constantly be added to keep the leaded plates submerged in the battery’s sulfuric electrolyte. The other factor in this equation is that most owners don’t realize that their golf cart batteries need this type of constant attention. The average cart is powered by lead acid batteries which are positioned underneath the seat. It isn’t uncommon to fold back the seat of the cart and find all 6 batteries desperately in need of fluid.

When batteries run dry, they can smoke and even explode. With each battery packing the explosive power of a grenade, the potential danger is a real threat. In order to prevent this, it is essential to check your golf cart batteries on a regular basis. First, there should be no corrosive phosphorus should be growing around the terminals.

Next, you’ll need to remove the caps and check the water level. The water level in your batteries should be just below the filler cap’s opening, if it’s too low, use a funnel to fill with distilled water only. If your golf cart batteries are completely dry, you should probably take them for maintenance. If levels get too low and remain low, there is a chance that the battery won’t hold a charge or that it could be a potential fire hazard.

The other option is to replace golf cart batteries with maintenance free sealed electric golf cart batteries. This type of battery, called an Absorbed Glass Mat or AGM battery, doesn’t require that distilled water be added. The acid in an AGM golf cart battery is absorbed by glass mat separators located between the lead plates. Because of their design, AGMs are maintenance-free, leak proof, and designed against terminal corrosion because there are no discharge tubes or filler caps.

Additionally, AGM batteries are more resistant to heat, vibration, and have a slower discharge rate, meaning that they last longer than traditional wet golf cart batteries. AGM batteries are more expensive than a wet cell battery at the counter, but when valued over a lifetime are more cost effective because of their longer shelf life and lower cost of maintenance.

If you’re using wet cell batteries, be sure to develop-and stick to-a regular maintenance program. The odds are fairly low that one of your golf cart batteries will explode under your seat, but more likely than that of the largely publicized Sony laptop battery. More common is that you can dramatically shorten the life of your wet battery without proper care and maintenance.

Cell Phones and the Best Plan That Might Work for You

By Victor Epand

I can only advise you of the 2 best companies in the industry as far as reports from the FCC on companies that have the best customer service and receive the fewest complaints to the FCC per million customers. If you can, I would go with U.S. Cellular or Verizon. They are both wonderful companies and carry good quality brand phones, such as Nokia, Motorola and LG. If you are getting new service or renewing a contract with either of these companies, you can get a new phone for practically nothing.

Manufacturers will get the phones to a test group and then have them use the phone and report back the results. This could be the case here. I would have to say that if the manufacturers website doesn’t list it as released, then I would be leary about spending my money on it.

I would recommend going with Verizon Wireless. They offer one of the best networks in the industry and are a customer focused company. As far as phones, if you are looking at the most bang for your buck, I would recommend the LG 3300 or the Motorola V276,if you want a camera phone. Both phones are fairly priced and provide great quality.

There are many pros and cons associated with buying a cellphone, whether it is Contract or Pay as You Go. Over here in the UK Pay as You Go has been very popular now that the mobile operators have realised that it is a realistic solution to draw in a younger market. Most of the Pay as You Go options that I am aware of in the US are quite frankly ludicrous due to the fact that the operator who supply them are still trying to take too much of a cut. Take for example this section from Verizon Wireless Pay as You Go small print:

99 daily access will be charged and deducted from your account even on days you do not make or receive calls. Verizon Wireless will suspend service if you do not have the 99 required for your daily access, when your account balance reaches $0 or your account balance reaches the expiration date. Unlimited IN and Night minutes not available when your account balance has been suspended and subject to termination, at which time Verizon Wireless may charge up to $35 activation fee to re-establish service. Any balance remaining at expiration will be removed from the account.

The INpulse card is not valid unless initialized by the date on the back of the setup card. Service availability dependent on phone model. INpulse pricing not available with analog-only phones. Voice mail setup and retrievals are billed at regular INpulse rates and will deplete minute allowance when calling from your wireless phone. Charge per call for 411 Connect may vary when not on the Verizon Wireless INpulse Coverage Area. Restrictions and limitations may apply.

Automatic connection and enhanced services are not guaranteed at all times or in all areas and rates may vary when roaming on another carrier. For connected calls, the part of the call that occurs prior to connection may have different rates from the part of the call that occurs after connection. Additional toll and long distance charges may apply. You can make three requests per call and get automatic call completion for one requested telephone number at no extra charge. Using Get It Now, download charges may apply to application download. Airtime charges apply to application downloads and use of some applications.

Use of Get It Now is subject to the Get It Now License and User Agreements. You may be charged for downloading Get It Now applications. Charges vary by application and applications vary by phone. Get It Now-enabled phone is required and may require a connection in the INpulse All-Digital Rate and Coverage Area.

Existing Verizon Wireless prepay customers will forfeit any unused bonus minutes in their account when changing to the INpulse Calling Plan.

There are far to many extra cost associated with this, that in the end you would probably end up paying out more than you would on a low monthly contract. I would sugest that you take a look at the contract phones available to you from different operators, I know that Verizon has very good coverage right accros the US, there are some very reasonably priced deals available that would be a lot less hassle and, in the long run cheaper than the Pay as You Go plan.
